BERLIN WALL RALLY - ALONG THE FORMER DEATH STRIP
Informative rally along the Berlin Wall at the open-air wall documentation on Bernauer Straße.
Tour information
An exciting combination of a guided walking tour and a rally along the former border of the Wall. The tour leads along the open-air documentation to the Berlin Wall on Bernauer Strasse - a place where numerous traces of the past can still be found on this former death strip, such as the remains of the Wall and a border watchtower. But we also see places of tunnel escapes and escape attempts. The tour ends in a railway station with a documentation of courageous GDR citizens who dared to flee to the West. And during the tour, several teams compete for the winning title.
Tour description
At the beginning of the tour, the guide explains the course of the game and several small teams are formed. During the city tour all teams are given tasks that they have to solve independently. The team that gets back to the guide first with the correct answers gets the most points. The team with the most points at the end is the winning team!
This rally leads along numerous places that document the former division of Berlin. For example, to the Berlin Wall Documentation Center on Bernauer Strasse with a viewing platform from which you have a good view of the course of the former death strip. There we can also see a watchtower and the remains of the front and rear walls. At the end of the rally, we finally come to the railway station, where there is an exhibition about the “ghost stations” of divided Berlin and documenting the escapes of GDR citizens.
On this tour we will show you, among other things:
Open-air documentary about the Berlin Wall
Berlin Wall Visitor and Documentation Center on Bernauer Strasse
Places of successful and failed escape attempts
Chapel of Reconciliation
Remnant of the Wall and watchtower
"Remembrance window" for people who lost their lives while fleeing
Exhibition on former "ghost train station"
...and many more interesting places.
