FOOD TOUR BERLIN: OLD TOWN WITH TYPICAL BERLIN RESTAURANT
Walking tour through the oldest part of Berlin followed by a visit to a restaurant with a typical Berlin atmosphere and with Berlin food specialties.
Tour information
The Nicolai Quarter is the oldest district of Berlin - here lies the "cradle" of today's federal capital. And that's exactly what it looks like here: small streets, narrow houses - and restaurants with a Berlin ambience and home-style cooking. On this walking tour you get an impression of old Berlin and see, among other things, the house of Gotthold Ephraim Lessing, the "dragon slayer", as well as the "most beautiful corner" and the smallest alley in Berlin. The 1-hour tour ends at the Julchen Hoppe restaurant, where we will be happy to make reservations for you afterwards. Link to restaurant >
Tour description
The medieval nucleus of Berlin is located on the Spree Island - the Nicolai Quarter. Almost completely destroyed in the Second World War, the GDR reconstructed historical buildings in 1987 and mixed them with new buildings that convey the illusion of an old town. So today you can stroll comfortably on foot in the district with its small shops, museums and nice restaurants. The search for the origin of Berlin also leads us to the old Berlin tavern "Zum Nussbaum", which used to be in a different location, but has been reconstructed and "moved" to the Nicolai Quarter.
Other highlights of the city tour are:
Berlin city seal and historic fountain
Promenade along the Spree with St. Georg monument
Restaurants “Zur Gerichtslaube”, “Zum Nussbaum” and Gasthaus “Zur Rippe”
Ephraim Palais - Rococo palace with golden balcony grilles
Nikolaikirche, Berlin's oldest parish church and museum
Berlin City Hall - also called the "Red City Hall".
Zille Museum – dedicated to the well-known old Berlin artist
Lessinghaus – Residence of Gotthold Ephraim Lessing
Eiergasse – the smallest alley in Berlin
Knoblauchhaus – Museum of Berlin Biedermeier
Gladly with reservation afterwards in the Restaurant Julchen Hoppe. Gastronomy is not part of our services and therefore not included in the tour price.
